Herbert “Bert” C. Blakey, Jr., 90, of Springfield, passed from this life June 1, 2026. He was born April 29, 1936, in Springfield, to Cecil and Florence Blakey.
After proudly serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, Bert worked in sales, promoting and teaching Dale Carnegie courses representing the four-state area. He was a member of Sunset Church of Christ and in his spare time Bert enjoyed buying, selling, trading, and riding motorcycles and collecting special cars, his last two being Zimmers. Bert loved playing the guitar, singing along, and spending time with family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, John May and Jack Herman; and a nephew, Tristian Shad Blakey.
Bert is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Arlene (Ray) Blakey; a son, Kyle Blakey; daughter, Tiffany (Blakey) Barnhouse and her husband, Torrey; granddaughters, Eden (Barnhouse) Farnicola and her husband, Nic, Emma Barnhouse, and Ashtyn Blakey; two sisters, Wilma Herman, Wanda Swan and her husband, Jim; and a brother, Ron Blakey and his wife, Dewanda.
Graveside services, with full military honors, will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Road, in Springfield. Pastor Dwight Samuel will officiate.
