Hettie Lou Burke, age 85, went to meet Jesus her Savior on July 15, 2011.
She spent her life teaching family and others the Christian way of life through bible study and example. Hettie Lou took to heart Jesus’ words of bring the children to me and focused on teaching the young throughout her life. She was well loved by all who knew her. Hettie Lou was a member of First Baptist Church.
In 1955 she was the Missouri Archery Champion and also served as a part-time Deputy in the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, John M. Burke; daughter Rebecca Vice and husband Floyd of Spotsylvania, VA; son John M. Burke II and wife Pam of Plano, TX; and granddaughter Jennifer Burke of Dallas, GA. She was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Parsons.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with graveside services at 9:30 am, Wednesday, July 20, 2011 in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. No viewing or visitation is planned.
