Howard Stanley Woodall, 103, of Springfield, MO, passed away on Dec. 27, 2020 as a result of complications from Covid-19 Virus. He was born June 19, 1917 in Christian County, MO to Marcus and Ora (Roberts) Gann Woodall. He grew up in both Christian and Lawrence Counties.
He married the love of his life, Thelma Frances Newcum, that he affectionally called “Francie”, on Feb. 20, 1937. They spent 76 wonderful years together before her passing on Dec. 28, 2013. They had 3 sons and 1 daughter.
Howard was saved as a young man and was a devout Christian. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1965. His favorite scripture was Ephesians 2:8-9. At the time of his death, he was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Springfield. Howard served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an employee of Frisco Railroad for 39 years, working in the Store Department, at the shops in Springfield.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife Frances, one son Bob Woodall, his daughter, Debra (Woodall) Walker, and one grandaughter Lisa Woodall. He is survived by his two sons, Roy Woodall (Grace), Don Woodall (Judy), and daughter-in-law Beverly Woodall all of Springfield, Mo. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the staff at Magnolia Square; especially his “Guardian Angel, Erica for her love and attention and to Conner, his nurse, for keeping us updated and making sure of his comfort.
There will be an open visitation, Sunday, January 3, 2021, from 1 – 5 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, 441 W Battlefield. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 4, 2021, at Eastlawn Cemetery on East Pythian Street in Springfield. Reverend Hosea Bilyeu will officiate graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Howard’s name to Crossline or The Humane Society of Southwest Missouri.
