Hugh E. McIntire
Hugh E. McIntire, 85 of Ozark, Mo., was born on September 23, 1925 in Parsons, Kan., and passed away on February 7, 2011 in Springfield, Mo. He graduated from Neosho High School in 1943 and attended Joplin Jr. College. Hugh served in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He was a quality engineer retiring in 1982 from Unysis in St. Paul, Minn.
Hugh married Florence Marie (Broadhurst) McIntire on February 9, 1947 in Columbus, Kan. He attended the Methodist Church and was a VFW Lifetime Member of Dexter Elks Lodge. Hugh enjoyed wood working, horseback riding, fishing and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Connaway and stepfather, Gene Connaway; sister, Barbara Row and brother-in-law, Charles F. Row, M.D.; and grandson-in-law, Sean Smythe.
Hugh is survived by his wife, Florence McIntire; children, Paula and Mike Sexton, Leslie and Greg Huntington; grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) Sexton, Stacy Smythe, Jared Sexton, Jordan Sexton, Corbin Huntington, Miranda Huntington and Spencer Huntington; great-grandchildren, Baylee Smythe, Alexandria Sexton, Taylor Smythe, and Madyson Smythe.
Visitation will be February 11, 2011 at 1 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at a later date in Veterans Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
