Inez Maxine Highfill was born on February 23, 1921 in Buffalo, MO. She passed away June 11, 2016 at Woodland Manor at the age of 95. Her parents were Clyde and Gladys Routh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl, of 66 years, in addition to 3 sisters; Lois Krasser, Margie Underhill, and Lucille Bilyeu. She is survived by 2 sisters; Wilma Williamson of Glendale Gardens, Springfield, MO. and Betty Creasy of Marshfield, MO. She is also survived by her 3 children and their spouses; Wilbur (Joyce) Highfill of Fair Grove, Lindal (Carol) Highfill of Fair Grove, and Shrevia (Ed) Stroud of Fair Grove. She has 9 grandchildren; Brent (Cindy) Highfill, Robin (Steve) Graham, Steve (Joyce) Highfill, Mark (Cindy) Stroud, Amy (Tim) Kirk, Randy (Laura) Highfill, Dale (Brandi) Highfill, Tom Highfill, and Jennifer (Bobby) Blose. Maxine is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Maxine accepted Christ as her Savior as a young girl. She was a faithful member of Mount Comfort Church until she was unable to attend. She attended the Women’s Bible Study for many years and enjoyed the friendship with the women each week. Maxine lived on the family farm for 67 years. Burl and Maxine enjoyed living and working on their farm and raising their children there. She loved cooking delicious meals for her family, and always welcomed everyone for a visit and shared her homemade Cookies. She was employed at Armour’s Creamery, Lily Tulip, and as a cook at the Fair Grove School. The family would like to thank her granddaughter Cindy Stroud, Wanda Curry, and Doris Hall. With their loving care and help, Maxine was able to remain in her home for a longer time. Also, thanks to Strafford Care Center, Hospice Care, and Woodland Manor for their care and kindness. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Comfort Church Fund or to Mount Comfort Cemetery, 2376 E. Farm Road 66 in Springfield, MO., 65803. Visitation will be Saturday, June 18, 2016, 9:00-10:00am, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Funeral service will follow at 10:00am, with interment at Mount Comfort Cemetery.
