Iris June (Schulz) Roach, 71, Elkland, was born June 16, 1942, in Niangua, to Clarence F. Schulz and Inez L. Young, and passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, surrounded by her family.
June attended Niangua schools until the family moved to Springfield when she was 10 years old. She graduated from Central High School in 1960. She married her children’s father, James Roach, in June of that year, and had her daughter, Pamela, in 1961, and James Gregory in 1964. In 1971, the family moved to Rogersville, where Pam and Greg were raised and started their own families.
June found herself in Mississippi in the mid-1980s, where she was blessed to meet her daughter Kellie as a toddler. She and Kellie’s father moved to Mt. Vernon where they raised Kellie. June held various jobs to support her family. While living in Mt. Vernon, she used her infamous culinary talents while she owned and operated a restaurant, Catfish Isle. She enjoyed cooking, flea marketing, attending auctions, riding horses, garage saleing, fishing, camping, traveling and spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
That love of spending time with her family led June to move to Elkland to live with her daughter, Pam, where she has resided for the past five years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jeanette “Jean” Vestal; and a brother, LaVern Schulz.
She is survived by her children, Pam Pickel and her husband, Mark, Elkland, Greg Roach, Rogersville, and Kellie Glidewell, Aurora; six grandchildren, James Pickel, Elkland, Kurtis Pickel, Marshfield, Jessica Pickel, Buffalo, Jennalee Roach, Rogersville, Justin Roach, Fordland, and one on the way; five great-granchildren, Billy and Rainy Pickel, Elkland, and Allison and Rozlyn Taylor and Kylon Tarr, Buffalo; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus.
