J.C. (James) Baker, age 86, of Springfield, MO, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Cox Medical Center South. He was born April 22, 1924, in Galena, MO, to B.G. and Nettie (Jones) Baker. He served in the U.S. United States Army during World War II serving in the Battle of the Bulge. J.C. retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents B.G. and Nettie Baker, his first wife Velma Baker daughter Janice Workman,one half brother, one half sister, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Allene A. Baker of Springfield, MO, two children Judy Arthur and husband Larry Sr. of Pleasant Hope, Dan Baker of the Florida Keys , grandchildren Krystina Lin Workman, Joseph Michael Workman,Larry Craigmyle Jr. , Derek Craigmyle, Mindy Fohn, Laura Arthur, Sarah Arthur and Ryan Arthur, 11 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2010, at Freeman-Holsapple Cemetery , Collins MO, with Mr. Dennis Goodwin officiating.
