Jack Albert Sneed, 84, Willard, died from a massive blood clot to the brain at 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Cox Medical Center South.
Born June 8, 1933, in Springfield, Mo., he was the younger of two children born to Richard Glenn Sneed and Lena Mae Schmitt Sneed. Jack was united in marriage to Patricia Mae Wescott on November 22, 1967, in Anderson, Mo.
Jack attended the Wiley one-room school north of Willard. He also attended Willard schools, graduating from Willard High School. He then attended Southwest Missouri State College (now Missouri State University) for a short time. He was employed for 30 years as a meat inspector for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1996. He also operated a beef cattle farm north of Willard, which he still operated at the time of his death.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joe Bill; and his sister-in-law, Lela. He was survived by his wife, Pat; a son, Ronnie; daughter-in-law, Cherie; granddaughter, Hannah; and grandson, Logan. He was also survived by one niece, one nephew, many cousins, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Monday, April 9, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., and the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Calvin Maberry, will be Tuesday, April 10, at 10:00 a.m., both at Greenlawn Funeral Home-North, located at 3506 N. National Avenue in Springfield. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
