Jack Curtis Skaggs of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on October 17, 2026, just having reached the age of 92. He was born October 16, 1934, in Selmore, Missouri, to the late William Curtis Skaggs and Isabelle Collins Skaggs.
Jack graduated from Ozark High School in 1951 and later moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas, where he met Kathryn Cecille Stamps. Jack and Cecille were married on September 8, 1956. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with their four daughters, along with many family members and friends.
Jack is survived by his wife, Cecille; their four daughters, Jennifer Cecille Huxley and her husband, Mark, of Nixa, Missouri; Jacqueline Cae Cunningham and her husband, Terry, of Frisco, Texas; Julie Catherine Baker and her husband, Jon, of Springfield, Missouri; and Jeena Camile Erickson and her husband, Bruce, of Omaha, Nebraska. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Steven, Thomas, Joseph, Alyssa, Spencer, Zachary, Jessamyn, Mason, and Max; three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Trevor, and Gage; his brother, Jerry, and his wife, Bettie, of Ozark, Missouri; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jack began his career as a small-business owner with a television repair shop located in the front of Cecille’s School of Dance in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Through Vernon Fitzhugh of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Jack became acquainted with the burgeoning Muzak background music business and acquired the Muzak franchise for the Springfield area in 1962. Audio Acoustics was incorporated in 1968 and continues today as a family business. The company he founded, along with the vision, principles, and commitment to quality service on which he built it, remains a lasting legacy.
Jack was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the frigid waters of the Finley River in Ozark, Missouri, on January 14, 1951, and faithfully served God and his community throughout his life. He enjoyed traveling, especially when he could do so at the controls of his single-engine Cessna and firmly believed that exercise could cure just about anything. He took great satisfaction in tracking the miles he swam, biked, and, in later years, walked. Pizza was a highlight of his week, every Sunday night. Jack was a man of few words, but when he spoke, people listened. He will be missed.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 1, 2026, 2:00 ~ 3:30 p.m., at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole, in Springfield, MO, with a memorial service to follow at 3:30 p.m.
