Graveside services for Jack Eugene Carns age 90 of Branson, Mo. will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
He died January 2, 2014 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born on May 10, 1923 in Dadeville, Missouri the son of Cecil Robert and Mary Jane Weeks Carns. He had been a resident of the area for many years and was the former owner of Green Acres in Forsyth, Missouri. He was a 25 year veteran of the U.S. Marines where he received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, National Defense Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal and Purple Heart. He had also been a security Guard at Pointe Royal before his retirement.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Carns of Hollister, Missouri; five children, Jack Eugene Kelley and wife Sandy of Norwalk, California, Cindy Regan and husband David of St. George, Utah, Saundra J. Strange and husband Wes of Hollister, Missouri, Susan J. Middaugh and husband John of Branson, and Sharon J. Bouma and husband Darren of Ozark, Missouri. One brother, Roy Plumb of Tulsa, Oklahoma, eleven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
