Jack Wesley Melton, 78, of Springfield, Mo., passed away at 9:48 a.m. Saturday, December 04, 2010, in his home. He was born on May 10, 1932 in Springfield, Mo., the son of Rex H. Melton, and, Lorene Walton Branson. He worked in numerous Dairy Farms delivering milk, starting at Clover Leaf Dairy and retiring at Foremost Dairy in 1981 due to illness. He loved fishing, playing baseball, was an avid Cardinal and baseball fan. He also enjoyed playing golf.
Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Lorene Walton, father Rex H. Melton, grandmother, Francis Walton Branson, his wife, Juanita Fern Doran, two sons; Danny Rex , Richard Allen (Dickie) Melton, daughter, Nancy Sue Newman, brother- Harold Eugene Melton.
Jack is survived by his son, David Melton, daughter-in-law Kathy Melton Yates, grandsons, Scott and Mark Reynolds; grand-daughters, Valerie and Jessica Newman, Vanessa Faith Melton, Son-in-law Danny Newman. Jack’s brother’s wife Rita Melton, Phil & Paula, Mark & Michelle Melton, Charles (Chuck), Sean, Michelle and Hannah Melton, John & Micki, Jared and Dillon Melton. Jack had two sons, in heart, Danny Reed and Cory Bates whom he loved and cherished.
Jack had two loving dogs, Spook and Chico whom he adored and spoiled and will stay at home with David.
Jack will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his laugh, and he always welcomed anyone in his home to have a cup of coffee and break bread. He always had many friends. He was a Christian of the Baptist Faith, believed in God and our Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He will be missed by all that loved him and is now at home and in peace. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Integrity Home Care, Seasons Hospice, and The Heart and Lung Association. We would like to honor the Integrity Home Care and his amazing nurse, Kathy, and Seasons Hospice for their devoted care to Jack.
Visitation will be held Tuesday Dec. 7, 2010, 6-8 P.M., Funeral Dec. 8, 2010, 3 P.M. at Greenlawn East Funeral Home. Burial at Hazelwood Cemetery.
