Jackie “Boss Hogg” Eugene Swearingin, Jr
“and there’s fire on the mountain, lightning in the air, gold in them hills and it’s waitin’ for me there”
Jackie Swearingin, 60, Springfield MO, went to glory on January 22, 2014. Jackie was born in Kansas City, KS to Jack and Betty Swearingin on December 6th, 1953. He attended Central High School and worked for several years at EPI in Springfield. July 19th, 1972 he married the love of his life, Patty Groves Swearingin, and together they had two children Angie and Chad Allen.
A heart of gold with a smile that could light up a room. When Jackie arrived it was ON! A born story teller, he captured the attention of everyone with his voice. His big stories, true or not, left all who heard happy and laughing with the question…Did that really happen??? When Jackie spoke of his family and children there was no question of the love he held for them. “You’re the apple of daddy’s eye, baby girl”, left on a voice mail to his daughter, is a saved memory that will be forever cherished.
Jackie was an accomplished singer and musician. He loved all kinds of music but sang Southern Rock and Blues in his band Panther Creek, in which his son Chad played drums. He put every ounce of his being and emotion into the words he sang and the music he played. The truth in these moments could not be denied. Today the music lives on in his son.
His heart, his smile and his voice will be forever missed by his children, family and friends. Jackie is preceded in death by his wife Patty Swearingin, and father Jack Swearingin. He is survivied by his mother, Betty Swearingin of Rogersville; two children, Angie Swearingin of Springfield and Chad Swearingin and wife Candice of Springfield; one brother Rickie Swearingin and wife Patricia of Springfield; three sisters, Sue Warner and husband Gary of Rogersville, Brenda Swearingin of Springfield, Debbie Allen of Springfield; beloved nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
