Jackie Wayne King, age 72, passed away on March 25, 2024, at his home in Nixa, Mo. He was born to Joseph and Viola King on February 22, 1952. He was born and raised in Springfield, Mo. He graduated from Central High School in 1970, where he played football and was editor of the high school newspaper. He was united in marriage for 49 years to his high school sweetheart, Monica (Franklin) King. They had two children. He served in the US Army, of which he was very proud. Jackie worked as a reporter for the Springfield News-Leader, and then for the railroad, from which he retired. After his retirement, Jackie held several other small jobs.
Jackie was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Jim King; and his oldest sister, Glenda Jo (King) Pike. He is survived by his children, Jackie King Jr. and Melissa King, both of Colorado; two granddaughters, Lindsey and Taylor King; a grandson who he raised, Christian King; sister, Debra (King) Cox; and several nieces. He is also survived by his close friend, Rick Sweet, whom should be thanked sincerely for being by his side the last few years.
Burial arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn North Funeral Home in Springfield, MO. No services are scheduled at this time.
