James A. Hieronymus
On October 4, 2011, Jim Hieronymus left behind his deteriorating body and the terrible pain associated with his latest trial – pancreatic cancer. Jim traded his trials and suffering for a homecoming with his Heavenly Father. He approached his death with great confidence given his relationship as a child of the King, yet even to the end he wanted to make sure that his wife Carol was taken care of and that all was well with his family. Jim was born on July 16, 1937, in Sedalia, MO, and spent 55 years as the loving husband, best friend and helpmate of Carol.
Jim is survived by his wife Carol; son Steven Hieronymus and wife Rhonda; daughter Tamara Rohde and husband Steve; along with six grandchildren, three spouses of grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Additional survivors include; one brother, three sisters in law, two brothers in law, six nephews and two nieces.
Jim had a diverse and very successful business career and lived in many parts of the country, with Jim and Carol developing very special and lasting friendships along the way.
Jim was a man that taught and modeled strength and character, pointing always to the author of course. Jim knew the reality of having a “thorn(s) of the flesh”, yet never let it get the best of him as he lived life and led his family. He loved and served the Lord, loved his wife in a God honoring manner and provided, guided and invested fully into his family. Jim ran his race to win the prize and he has now claimed the prize in victory.
A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at Second Baptist Church 3111 E. Battlefield Rd., Springfield, MO, on Wednesday, October 12th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society, or to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home East Springfield, MO.
