James F. “Jim” O’Neill, 82, of Republic, passed away October 15, 2011 in St. Johns Medical Center.
Jim was born November 20, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Frederick and Margaret O’Neill.
Jim served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Air Force, Navy and then joined the Army Reserves where he was a Military Instructor for many years. He later became a Law Enforcement officer with the Greene County Sheriffs Department having served with four Sheriffs. Jim worked his way from patrolman to detective and later to Captain of the Reserves.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Peggy, a brother John F. O’Neill of Minnesota; two cousins Thomas Kirth and his family of Georgia and Melvin Kirth Jr. and his family of Illinois; And several other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, October 20, 2011 in Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Burial will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery with full Military Honors. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday October 19, 2011 in the funeral home.
