Jim Friesz, 72, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack at home in the early morning of January 16, 2013.
Jim was born in Des Moines, IA on July 23, 1940 and at age 5 moved to Dallas Center, IA. He was the only child of Francis and Evelyn Friesz.
He graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, IA in 1961.
Jim worked for Brenton Bank in Des Moines, IA for 36 years until his retirement in 2001.
Jim and Sharon moved to Branson, MO in 2004. He was active in his church and currently served as VP of the volunteers at Cox Medical Center Branson (Skaggs) Hospital. He was a true Roy Rogers and Dale Evans fan. He wore his boots and cowboy hat proudly. He was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He and Sharon enjoyed traveling to Mexico, Hawaii, and to numerous western festivals including to a Dude Ranch in Wyoming. They also traveled to many states.
Jim and Sharon were married May 9, 1966. They have two children, Bryce Friesz (Cheri), Charlotte, NC and Jill Rhamy (Chad), Overland Park, KS. He loved his children and six grandchildren so very much: Bryce’s children-Alexis, Rachel, Nicholas and Nathan and Jill’s twins-Madison and Zachary.
There will be a service Saturday, January 19th at Branson United Methodist Church at 10am with visitation on Friday evening, January 18th from 6-8pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson. There will be a separate memorial service at Iles Funeral Homes Brandt in Dallas Center, IA on Tuesday, January 22nd at 11am with visitation prior to the service from 10 to 11am.
Jim was preceded in death by both of his parents.
The family has requested there not be a viewing at either service. It was Jim and Sharon’s decision to be cremated when God took them home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cox Medical Center Branson (Skaggs) hospital or the Branson United Methodist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home of Branson.
