James W. Hornbeck, age 75, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009, in St. John’s Medical Center. He was born October 31, 1933, in Kansas City, Mo., to Fred and Martha (Gibson) Hornbeck. His parents; brother Roland Hornbeck; and sister Idabelle Campbell, preceded him in death. He is survived by wife, Kathryn M. Hornbeck, Springfield, Mo.; sisters, Doris Presley, Springfield, Mo., and Barbara Dickey, Hutchinson, Kan.; children, Cindy McCord, Russellville, Ark., and Doug and Lieane Hornbeck, Japan; step-children, Robert Atkins and Larry Atkins; and many many grandchildren. James retired from Lily Tulip and was an avid dog breeder and trainer for 25 years. He enjoyed breeding white German Shepherds for the last five years. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m., in Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
