James L. Matthews left this earthly life on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at the age of 71 after a short illness.
He was born November 14, 1939 to Frank and Myrtle (Bodenhamer) Matthews. Graduating from Central High School he met his wife of 49 years Barbara (Graham) Matthews while attending Draughon Business College. Jim served aboard the U.S.S Bonn Homme Richard during the Vietnam War.
His parents Frank and Myrtle Matthews and brother Kenneth Matthews preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, two sisters-in-law, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation with family and friends will be on Sunday, December 26, 2010 from 2 to 4 P.M. in Greenlawn East Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday, December 27, 2010 in Greenlawn East Funeral Home, officiated by Larry White and Gary Smith, elders at East Grand Church of Christ where Jim and Barbara are members. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
