James Leroy Blankenship
James Leroy Blankenship James Leroy Blankenship, age 73, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010, in his home. He was born June 2, 1937, in Competition, Mo., to Clifford and Telia (Huckaby) Blankenship. Leroy retired from ABF Freight, and worked for P.I.E. Trucking for 28 years. Leroy enjoyed fishing and hunting, leather work, trap shooting with his friends and family, and 3 D Archery, but his children were his favorite hobby of all. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Blankenship; mother, Telia Mae Heath and husband Elmo; and a sister, Darlene Blankenship. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Blankenship, of Springfield, Mo.; three sons, Stephen Blankenship and finance Julie, of Georgetown, Ohio, Michael Blankenship and wife Kathy of Strafford, and John Blankenship and wife Rebecca of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; and his dog, Coco. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 12, 2010, in Porter Chapel, two miles northeast of Competition, with Reverend Edwin Kincheloe officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cox Cancer Center in care of the funeral home. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, Mo.
