James Richard Carr was born July 7, 1931 in Springfield to the late John and Leah Carr. After a short illness he passed away on November 25, 2011 with his loving wife, Catherine, by his side.
After graduating from Central High School in 1950 he began serving his country on January 6, 1951 in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged on September 30, 1954. He was employed with Kraft Foods from 1955-1968 and began his career with Frisco Railroad in 1968 until his retirement in 1996.
Jim was an avid quail hunter and breeder of some of the finest pointer dogs in the United States. He was also a well known Fast-Pitch softball player in the triple A leagues in Springfield. He was loved greatly and will be missed by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his wife Catherine; his sons, John and wife Cheryl and Mark and wife Kelly; daughter, Becky Marlowe and husband Gregory all of Springfield; four grandchildren and one great grandson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2011 from 2-4 p.m., in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital in Jim’s memory.
