James was the eldest son of Donald Dugan and Betty J. (Young) Dugan. He was a carpenter by trade. He worked for MECO for 12 years and Oak Grove Construction for 20 years. He was instrumental in the growth of Springfield: helping build Primrose Marketplace, Skate Land, Bass Pro, and Big Cedar Lodge among others. He loved building. He also loved his family and God.
He was born in Marshfield, MO., and grew up in Bonner Springs, KS. James was a member of Hillside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Glenda. Other survivors include daughter Jametha Cotton of Cassville; Fran Day of Springfield; grandson, Jared Turner of Springfield; sisters: Brenda Jolley of Miami, Oklahoma, Debbie Scroggin (Danny) of Springfield, MO.; sister-in-law Diane Dugan of Kansas City, MO.; a host of nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins, and uncles.
Those preceding him in death are his parents, Don and Betty Dugan; son, Jimmy Dugan; grandson, Phillip Turner; brother, Donnie Dugan.
