Jane Potter (Lumley), age 79, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday December 19th at Mercy Hospital. Jane was born to Roy Lumley and Beulah McGinnis on December 28th, 1944, in Springfield, Missouri. She was raised in Springfield and graduated from Parkview high school in 1963. She had 3 beautiful children, Brian, age 56, Lori, age 48, and Sheri, deceased.
Jane retired from Chase Bank after working with them for 15+ years in the customer service area. Jane worked most of her life in the banking field, starting at Commerce Bank in downtown Springfield. She then moved to Landmark Bank in south Springfield and stayed there through multiple bank mergers. Once the bank closed, she moved to Chase Bank.
When Jane wasn’t working and after she retired, she had many interests and pastimes including baking, shopping, and being outside in the sun. However, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren, Trayton age 27 and Josie age 19. Jane was often described by others as kind, sweet, caring, and loving. She loved taking care of people when they weren’t feeling good and making sure they had everything they needed. Jane was extensively involved with the American Diabetes Association after her youngest daughter, Sheri, was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at age 10. After retiring Jane continued to volunteer with other organizations in the Springfield Area.
Jane was preceded in death by her daughter Sheri Potter, her parents Roy Lumley, Beulah McGinnis, and her brothers Gary Lumley, and Michael Lumley. She is survived by her children Brian Jones and Lori (Potter) Swindell (James Stanford), her grandchildren Trayton Griffin and Josie Swindell, Her Nephews Gary Paul Lumley (Deana Lumley) and Eric Lumley, as well as several extended family and friends.
