Janett Hammons, age 80 of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023 with her daughter Debra at her side.
Janett was born to Carl Hartshorn and Mae (Wade) Hartshorn on June 11, 1942, in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She lived out her childhood in Minnesota and then moved to Missouri with her children in 1967.
Janett worked as the Executive Housekeeper at University Plaza hotel for 25 years. She was a dedicated employee who always took extreme pride in her work. In her later years she worked in the bakery at Wal-Mart where she befriended many of her co-workers.
Her favorite hobbies were shopping for antiques, working in her garden growing flowers and vegetables, reading, and collecting coins; but most of all she loved spending time with family and friends.
She loved to laugh and tell stories. There was rarely an occasion that you could visit her that she wouldn’t make you laugh or smile. She took great delight in loving and supporting her great-grandchildren and was always present for birthdays and sporting events.
Janett was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mae Hartshorn; brother, Bruce Hartshorn; and her son, Dale Hammons. She is survived by her daughter Debra Perry and husband Ralph; five grandchildren; Travis Hammons, Tracie Sanderson, Charlie Barnhart, Levi Hammons, and Sage Whiting; and several great grandchildren.
Cremation services have been entrusted to the care of Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Private graveside services will be arranged for a later date.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Janett’s name to Humane Society of Southwest Missouri.
