Jason Mathew Walker was born December 19, 2000 in Springfield, MO and lost his life on June 15, 2023, through a senseless act of violence. The world simply lost an extraordinary human being that day. His forever age is 22 years, 5 months, and 27 days. His love for his family, friends, clothes, and basketball and his signature smile is indelibly etched in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him.
Jason attended Pittman Elementary, Hickory Hills Middle School, Nixa High School, and Ozark Technical College. He liked the things normal adolescence boys liked: If one could eat it, bounce it, or date it, Jason was interested in it. But Jason had a deeper soul than most young people his age (and many adults as well) and saw through much of the rhetoric and hypocrisy often spewed by well-meaning adults. He said what he thought which often put him at odds with traditional ways of thinking. He did not hesitate to defend his positions on politics, religion, or social conventions. Had his life continued, he would have been a force with which to be reckoned.
Jason Walker is survived by his parents, Matthew Walker and Julie Spitz, one sister, Cora Jackson, his paternal grandmother, Marquita Walker, his maternal grandmother, Nicki Eck, his aunt, Dana Walker, his uncles, Jeremy Walker, John Spitz, and Paul Spitz, his cousins, Adam Walker, Abigale Ross, Paul Jr, Alex, Brett, and Ryan Spitz, his cousins, Makayla, Makenzie, and JC Spitz, and countless friends.
Jason was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Bill Walker, his maternal grandfather, John Spitz, his uncle Shane Jones, and several good friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at Greenlawn South, 441 W Battlefield, Springfield, MO 65807 on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 11 am (CST).
