Larry Collins left a message on September 22, 2020:
I just wanted to leave a little note about my great childhood friend, Jay. We were inseparable during our late elementary and junior high years. I have so many great memories of our time together. We would stay up until the late hours battling to save the princess in Super Mario Brothers or trying to defeat each other in any sports video game, I would usually win, good thing because I didn't stand a chance on the real football field, you would run right through me. Coach always said that he had never seen a more pure athlete in his entire time of coaching, you had muscles before we even knew what they were, you were a man among boys. It was awesome going to Casey's after football practice and getting slushies and drinking them in the back of your mom's truck going down the highway. We did a lot of things like that that kids don't do now, as a matter of fact, a lot of the things I probably wasn't supposed to be doing, shooting guns, riding motorcycles etc... were thanks to you and I wouldn't trade them for anything. I don't even want to know how fast we had that Yamaha YZ going. Remember all of the ramps we built out of terrible plywood and anything else we could find? My first "girlfriend" was a friend of your girlfriend. You shared anything you got with me, can't believe we didn't seriously hurt ourselves on the trampoline! We shared music, thanks for the Poison - Look What The Cat Dragged in tape, I had Boyz In The Hood memorized thanks to you bumping it while driving up and down the block in your Blue Chevy Malibu with the saw blade rims. From taking the bus in the winter to the mall to going to the pool in the summer, we had an amazing childhood, the type you see in movies like Stand By Me. Like many people do, our lives separated after school. I moved to KC to pursue my ambitions and for whatever reason we really never linked back up. Life takes people on different journeys, I just hope your days were filled with the happiness you deserved, the same type of happiness that our childhood together manifested. Fly on and rest in peace my brother.

Jay we had a special connection I’m so happy knowing that you are with Jesus Christ our lord and savior. Our conversations puts my mind to peace with this. I know I will see you again. To the boys and April I’m so sorry he is a great loss to us all but I can only imagine being in your spot I know he would want me to tell you just last week we had a conversation about the fact that he had made peace with God again . We talked about scripture and how the lord had blessed us in so many ways and how grateful he was to have had time with his boys and how much he loved Jesus and felt he was in a good place in his relationship with him. You are all in my prayers to get through the next few days and forever on until we meet again in heaven..
