Jean Ann Kennedy (Carr), Springfield, Mo passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024. She was born in Skiatook, Oklahoma, on January 28, 1935, to Delmar L. Carr and Joan E Sheriff.
Jean graduated from Central High School and was proud to be a Kiltie Drum Corp Alumni. Secondary education courses were in business and management through AT&T. She worked at AT&T/Southwestern Bell Companies as a manager of a large team of highly skilled long-distance operators and staff. She retired in 1990 before the closing of operator services in Springfield, MO.
Jean married Kenneth Eugene Kennedy on September 10, 1953. They raised 2 children, Catherine Elaine Kennedy and John Scott Kennedy. Jean was involved as Fairbanks PTA president, and a Girl Scout Leader, assisting with sewing cheerleaders’ skirts, or altering Kiltie uniforms.
Jean loved decorating her home and working in her colorful, beautiful flower gardens. She was an excellent cook, and planning dinners and celebrations for family and friends or others in need.
Jean loved the lake. She would plan weekends for family get-togethers in the early years at Table Rock Lake and then Bull Shoals. Favorite family memories were time spent fishing, she loved teaching grandkids to fish and swimming at the Bluff on Bull Shoals. Mom would drive the boat while the grandkids learned to ski and tube. Evenings were spent cooking the days’ catch and playing cards with family and friends.
Lots of laughter and love. The sunset pontoon cruises with special friends, Jim and Shirley Voyles were favorite memories.
Jean also enjoyed attending the Downtown Church (UMC) with her daughter, Cathy.
Jean was preceded in death by her father, mother, a half-sister, a brother, Richard Carr and her husband, Kenneth.
She is survived by Catherine Kennedy Jackson, John Scott Kennedy and wife, Doris. 3 grandchildren; Lindsey Percival (Jacob); Kara Boehmer (Stephen); and Sarah Beckerle (Joshua), 6 great-grandchildren; Morgan Arnall, Cannon Arnall, Benjamin Percival, Kennedy Boehmer, Miller Boehmer, Emmett Beckerle.

Thank you, the Elfindale Manor’ nurses and staff who lovingly cared for Mother these past 4 years. Mother’s blessing to us all with her boundless love and support will be dearly missed. She is free and dancing in the meadows with Kenneth and flying the skies to watch over all her family on earth. Jean has her Heavenly Wings!
