Jean Ann Quinn was born on March 12,1925 in Merion, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, to Wendell and Janet Schoch.  She grew up and lived in that area until she left to attend college at Stephen’s College in Columbia, Missouri. While there, she met the love of her life, George Quinn, who was a student at the University of Missouri. They were married on January 20, 1945.

George was inducted into the Airforce not long after they married and Jean went to live with George’s family on their farm in Springfield, Missouri while he was away serving in the Philippines.

Farm life was very different from the way Jean grew up, but she would tell you that she loved all of it and wouldn’t have changed a thing. It was an example of the way Jean faced life in general—with a positive outlook and an indomitable spirit.

After George returned from the service and finished school at MU, he and Jean returned to Springfield and built the house where they raised their family, entertained many friends and family, and lived out their lives. Their home was the hub of many memorable family get-togethers over the years. Jean was an exceptional cook and everyone looked forward to enjoying the meals she prepared.

Jean was blessed to be able to stay in the home she and George had built and loved so much until she passed on January 26, 2026, less than 2 months from her 101^st birthday, because of the care and devotion of her youngest daughter, Vicki and her husband Michael.

Jean had a strong faith in God that was an example to all who knew her. George and Jean were long-time members of First Baptist Church of Springfield where they taught Sunday School to children for many years. They were blessed to have many friends at First who kept in touch for many years. Later, they became members of Evergreen Church and made many new friends there.  Members of their immediate family also joined Evergreen and enjoyed attending with their “Nanny and Gumpa”.

Jean and George really enjoyed watching the Lady Bears play basketball and attended the games where they made lots of lasting friendships over the years. Music was a life-long love of Jean’s, and they went to Branson whenever they could to see her favorite entertainer, Andy Williams and other shows.

Jean loved visiting the Hawaiian island of Maui. She and George went there many times over the years and shared the experience with their family whenever they could. She was such a popular visitor that for her 100^th birthday, the staff at the hotel where she always stayed performed and dedicated a special song to her.

Most of all, Jean dearly loved her Savior, Jesus Christ and her family and close friends. She was always interested to hear what was going on in their lives, rejoicing in their accomplishments and showing compassion and empathy for their disappointments. Her special way of showing love and affection and giving encouragement are the things that will be missed most in her absence.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents, her brother, Parke Schoch, and her daughter, Linda McMillen, and a son-in-law, Dixon “Dick” McMillen.

She is survived by her children—Andy Quinn (Loree), Victoria Smith (Michael). Her grandchildren—Todd McMillen (Ragena) Ty McMillen, Aaron Quinn (Jennifer) Trinity Ann McMillen (Nathan), Rachel Reynolds (Matt), Jason Smith (Shannon), Megan Campbell (James), Chase Reynolds (Sarah).  Her great grandchildren—Kelby McMillen, Keisha McMillen, Christine Gideon (Nick), Kiara Losh (Tristan), Kentessa McMillen, Austin McMillen (Macy), Trevor Quinn, Elizabeth Quinn, Starry Owen (Parker), Cailin Reynolds, Victoria Peterson, Lilly Campbell, Ava Barnhouse, Kinsley Reynolds, Corbin Campbell, Keaton Smith, Kinley Smith, Aubrey Reynolds, and Quinn Reynolds. great great grandchildren—Aurora Peterson, Eleanor Losh, Margot Losh, and Maverick Quinn Gideon. A sister-in-law—Phoebe Quinn and many nieces and nephews.

Plans are being made for a celebration of life at a later date.
