Jerry Lee Iott, age 79, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in Quail Creek Skilled Nursing. He was born February 5, 1932, in Mountain Grove, Mo., to Lon and Florence (Brown) Iott.
He was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church. He served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Europe, during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Kraft Foods, after 38 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy-Air-Force. He was president of the Southwest Missouri Officials Association. He had officiated at many games in Southwest Missouri. He also had played semi-pro baseball while in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid Giants baseball and football fan, as well as he loved Duke basketball. He enjoyed attending the Horse Races at Oaklawn Park, at Hot Springs, Arkansas, with friends and family. He was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church for 56 years.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Iott; son, Greg Iott and his wife Candace, of Springfield; daughter, Sherry Iott, of Springfield; and two grandchildren, Paige Elizabeth Iott and Colton Gregory Iott. He is also survived by three special nieces, Judy Scott and her husband Marvin, Linda Race and her husband Bob, and Carolyn Sue Uzzell, all of Springfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011, in St. John’s Episcopal Church, Springfield, Mo., with Fr. Jerry Miller officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service in the church at 10 a.m., in the Parish Hall.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation and to St. John’s Episcopal Church.
