Jessie Muriel “McNew”
Dablemont went home to be with the Lord on April 7, 2013 at her home in
Bolivar. She was born on June 22, 1930 in Simmons, MO, near Houston, the
daughter of Bert Lee McNew and Hilda Frances Luck McNew. She
attended school in Houston, Missouri and was married to the love of her life Farrel
Arthur Dablemont on August 4, 1946 in Houston.
They had three children, Larry, Muriel, and Diana. Jessie owned and operated a Day Care Facility
in Houston, and over many years she took care of several hundred children. She
was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Bolivar, a pianist and singer at
many churches in Texas County throughout her lifetime as well as a Sunday school
teacher. Her biggest joy was her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the joy of her life.
She is survived
by her son and his wife, Larry and Gloria Dablemont of Bolivar, two daughters
and their husbands, Muriel and Jerry Wood of Lee’s Summit; and Diana and Billy
Chadwick of West Plains, two sisters-in-law, Ruth and Erma McNew, eight
grandchildren, Lori and Eric Cohen, Christy Dablemont, Leah and Derek Harlan,
Jeremy and Melissa Wood, Jeffrey Wood, Jason and Jessica Wood, Rachel and Jason
Peterson, Sarah and Charlie Kirby. She had
14 great grandchildren: Bradyn, Noah, Lawson,
Ryan, Jordan, Alex, Dakota, Katie, Shelby, Dane, Gabriel, Jake, John, Seaton,
and a host of nephews, nieces and friends, her best friend, Wanda Floyd, and
her beloved dog Butch.
She was preceded
in death by her husband of 65 years, Farrel; her parents, Bert and Hilda McNew,
one sister, Mildred Daniel, four brothers Ralph, Roy, Frank and Ervin McNew,
brother-in-law Marvin Daniel and sister-in-law Margie McNew, and her life-long
friend Evelyn Hartman.
She loved
gardening, sewing, fishing, and treasured her family which her life revolved
around. Her life and legacy have touched
so any lives; while we celebrate her life she will be sadly missed.
