Jewel Rae Nichols, a beloved wife, mother, Mimi, and accomplished massage therapist, passed away on August 24, 2023, in Springfield, Missouri surrounded by her family. She was born in Leon, Iowa, on July 13, 1954 to Harold & Faye Blunt. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her brothers Ed (Mary) Blunt, Skip (Bev) Blunt and her sister Alice (Clyde) Sweeten.
Jewel’s passion for her family was unparalleled. She was devoted to her husband of 49 years, Steven Nichols, and together they created a loving and nurturing home. Jewel cherished her role as a mother to her sons, Brandon and Matthew Nichols, and was immensely proud of the individuals they grew up to be. She adored her daughter-in-law’s, Nicole and Maria Nichols, who became an integral part of her cherished family unit.
Jewel’s joy extended beyond her immediate family, as she loved spending time with her 5 grandchildren: Hunter, Presley, Brantlee, Izzie, & Mattie. She eagerly embraced the role of Mimi and cherished the moments shared with her precious grandchildren, who will forever remember her warm smile, gentle hugs, and the love she showered upon them.
Jewel also cherished her role of being an Aunt and Great Aunt to each and everyone of her nieces and nephews. She loved each of them dearly and made sure they felt that love. She enjoyed being a part of their lives and accomplishments.
In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother, Jewel found solace in her career as a massage therapist. Through her touch and compassionate nature, she brought comfort and relief to countless individuals. Jewel’s expertise in the field of health and wellness earned her the respect and gratitude of her clients, and she took great satisfaction in their improved well-being.
Most importantly, Jewel loved The Lord with her whole heart and devoted her life to Him. She had a bold faith and would share the love of Jesus with anyone she met. She always challenged others to put God first, because she knew what it meant to live it out. If someone needed prayer, she was quick to pray on the spot. To know Jewel, was to have a glimpse of God’s love.
Jewel’s caring nature and strong presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts and minds of her family and friends.
A visitation for a celebration of the life of Jewel Rae Nichols will be held at Greenlawn South on Thursday, September 7th from 5-8pm. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and share stories of their cherished memories during that time.
