Jewell Dean Potter, age 88, of Buffalo, MO, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 in her home. She was born June 9, 1925, in Red Top, MO, to Ransom and Maude (Jackson) Hill. She was a member of the High Prairie Christian Church, where she was very active. Jewell was united in marriage to Steve Potter on August 26, 1944 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She loved to garden and singing, her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren. Jewell loved life and lived it to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Steve Potter, Jr.; her parents, Ransom and Maude Hill; one grandson, Curtis Potter, one great-grandson, Shawn Henry; one brother Homer Hill; and two sisters, Mildred Prater and Nora Norton. She is survived by two sons, James Paul Potter of Buffalo and Lewis Steve Potter and wife Joyce of Buffalo; four grandchildren, Stephanie Tucker, Kim Atkinson, Darren Stidham, and Jeff Stidham; seven great-grandchildren, Britinie Hughes, Shelby Hughes, Taylor Atkinson, Dillon Stidham, Gavin Stidham, Ella Stidham, and Lindy Stidham; four brothers, Lewis Hill, Jimmy Hill, Ernest Hill, and Gene Hill; one sister, Wilma Highfill; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO. Burial will be held in High Prairie Cemetery, Fair Grove, MO. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
