Jewell Smiddy, 96, of Springfield, Missouri, went to be with the Lord May 25, 2026. She was born September 1, 1929, in Catalpa, Arkansas. Jewell was the youngest of seven children and she graduated from Oran High School in 1948.
Jewell was united in marriage to Donald Smiddy on May 4, 1947, in Oran, Missouri.
She worked for Commerce Bank for 25 years and retired in 1987. She was active in her church, Briar Street Baptist Church. Her God-given gift was being a caretaker. She took care of countless family members and friends. Her sincere wish was that all her family would come to know and have a relationship with Jesus Christ .
Jewell moved into Ravenwood Assisted living in December of 2020, where she was known to be a friend to all. She never missed an activity and was eager to join in. Her family would like to thank the staff of Ravenwood, who loved her and took amazing care of her. The residents and staff became family.
Jewell was preceded in death by her husband Dean; her son Larry Smiddy; and her granddaughter, Melissa Price-Hirons. She is survived by a son, Ron; grandchildren, Michelle Enno (Shawn), Ryan Carroll (Katie), James Price, Christopher Smiddy, and Johnathan Smiddy; great-grandchildren, Zack Henry, Brett Henry (fiancée Hannah), Joseph Enno, Emma Hirons, Jordan Hirons, Alexandra Hirons, Koy Carroll, Kadyn Carroll and Nash Carroll.
Visitation will be held from 10~11 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Services will begin at 11 a.m., with Pastor Larry Ball officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, as Jewell’s great-granddaughter is living with CF.
