Jim Shades Brady was born February 14th, 1959, at St John’s Hospital in Springfield, MO to Don & Anna Brady. He died February 6th, 2024, at his home after a long battle with Emphysema/COPD.
He went to study elementary, junior high and then Central High for 2 years before joining the Army in 1976. He served 3 years of active duty. Basic & training at Fort Dix, NJ then main station 1, 35th Division, Erlangen, Germany. He served in the tank support unit driving trucks, Gorer & several other vehicles. This helped him fulfill his boyhood dream of driving big trucks.
After the service he worked for a short time at a factory where he met the love of his life, his Baby Blue (Lisa). After their marriage he started driving a truck. Over 20+ years of driving he worked for several companies, mainly short haul. He also worked several times at sheet metal companies, but his chosen profession was truck driving.
He was united in marriage to Lisa (Bright) July 2nd, 1981, in Bentonville, AR and July 3rd, 1981, at Sequiota Park, Springfield, MO. It was one of their stories, they told everyone they did it twice to make sure it stuck & it did.
Jim had many interests over the years. He was an animal lover, had lots of fur babies (dogs & cats) over the years. He was an avid bowler for many years, he liked to go fishing with his dad, he was an avid gamer starting in the 80’s with Atari then owned most every gaming system since. He spent many hours online talking to & gaming with his buddy & longtime friend Rob. He & Lisa also liked to travel, took several long trips on their motorcycles over the years and other trips by car & plane.
But his main passion was riding motorcycles with Baby Blue right on the seat behind him. The first thing they bought when they got married was a motorcycle. They rode many, many miles together over the years. Loved riding the backroads of MO & AR then finding a small-town diner to eat at.
In the wind was when he was happiest. He was a proud member of MasterLink (LFFL)SS. His brothers meant so much to him. Even after he got too sick to go riding, he enjoyed just getting together with them.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed & Elva Yarbrough; his parents, Don & Anna Brady; his brother, Rick Brady. Plus, several club brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa & her extended family; “His Boys” Dirty, Imus & Cory, who he loved very much; niece, Christy Sumpter; nephews, Patrick (Deanna) Brady & Michael (Neeley) Brady; several great & great-great nephews and nieces on the Brady side of the family; and a wide circle of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in his honor to Care Animal Rescue, Haven of the Ozarks or Rescue One. He was a big advocate of rescue animals; all the animals he had over the years were rescues.
