Jim Greninger, age 72 of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on April 18, 2024. Jim was born to Vancil and Agnes Greninger (Keller) on May 5, 1951, in Carthage, Missouri. He was raised in Carterville, Missouri. Jim was united in marriage to Leslie Hubbard on December 21, 1970, in Miami, Oklahoma. Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force for two years before His honorable discharge on March 23, 1973. The couple were blessed with four children, Jimmy Lee, Kelvis Lane, Stacy Paul and Amber Lynne.
Jim was a truck driver with forty plus years of experience. He retired in 2016 from Old Dominion Freight Line. In 2013 he was presented a company award for achieving one million safe miles. When not working, he enjoyed watching old westerns while enjoying a sweet treat or two. He enjoyed animals. Never knew what kind of animal he would bring home next. He had traditional pets like horses and dogs, but also took in ferrets, racoons and even a monkey when he was a teen. Fan of Elvis Presley and John Wayne. Nothing, however, brought him more fulfillment than spending time with loved ones. Jim will be remembered as a dedicated and loving father and grandfather. He was often described by others as friendly, kind and respectful. Jim leaves behind a legacy of hard work. He enjoyed sharing his abundance with others. Had a hard time telling someone “No” when asked for help. If there was a hall of fame for truck drivers Jim would easily be elected for enshrinement.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Vancil and Agnes Greninger; sisters, Joyce Brown, Treva Davis, Dee Eccles, Teri Moles and one brother Vancil Greninger. He is survived by ex-wife Leslie Greninger; children, Jimmy Greninger, Kelvis Greninger, Stacy (Cara) Greninger, Amber (Chris) Currier; grandchildren, Stacy Eveland, Kelsey Wheeler, Ella and Emery Greninger; greatgrandchild Addy Eveland; siblings Robyn Taylor and David Greninger.
A Memorial service for Jim will be held on Tuesday, May 7th, at 1 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
