Joanna Mae Armstrong, 87, passed away on February 28, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri. She was born to Harry and Josephine Flater on April 10, 1936, in Bloomfield, Indiana.
Joanna was a homemaker whose hobbies included Oil Painting, Sewing, Quilting and singing with her mother and sister in their trio called The Lighthouse Singers. They traveled around to many churches in Indiana and recorded two albums in Nashville. Joanna taught Sunday school when she attended Shelbyville Baptist Temple and was writing a book at the time of her death.
She is survived by her children: Tammy (husband: Phil) Pierson, Neil (Wife: Jeannie) Armstrong, and Lancy (Husband: Tom) Mason; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and her siblings: Susan (Husband: Ralph) Fancher and Harry (Wife: Cheryl) Flater.
She is preceded in death by 2 children: Rick Armstrong, and Sandy Armstrong-Johns and her spouse Wallie; her husband, Neil Armstrong; her parents, and her brother Eddie.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Hope’s Point Church in Shelbyville, Indiana, located at 1703 S Miller Ave, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
