Joe Dan Rees, age 73, of Springfield, MO passed away May 9, 2019. He was born April 16, 1946 in West Plains, MO. He graduated from Branson High School in 1964. Joe enlisted in the Naval Reserves serving 8 years. He retired from the Springfield News-Leader in 2011. He was known for his love of baseball, fishing, and sugary sweets. Joe brought joy and laughter into the lives of many.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Dixie Rees; his son, Paul Joseph Rees, and his daughter Cassandra Cockrum and her husband Mark; as well as his grandchildren; Kyle, Victoria, and Krista; and his great-grandchildren; Ada Hudson, and Simon.
A memorial service for Joe will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East.
