Joe Willie Fielder, age 83, of Springfield, MO, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011, at St. John’s Medical Center. He was born September 15, 1928, in Springfield, MO, to James and Letha (Slone) Fielder. He was a member of the Kansas Expressway Church of Christ. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Joe was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling with Freda and friends following his retirement from City Utilities of Springfield. He was a faithful Christian and positive influence on those around him. He loved his family and their time together, he was their foundation.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Allen Fielder and Junior Fielder; and a sister Marie Cozad.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Freda B. Fielder of the home; his son David Fielder and his wife Julie of Springfield, MO; two grandchildren: Hannah and John Fielder of Springfield, MO; a brother in-law Jerry Anderson and a sister in-law Lorene Fielder both of Springfield, MO; a niece, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, Springfield, MO, with Ray Sullins and Chuck Northrop officiating. Burial will follow in Payne Cemetery, Christian County, MO. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, September 19, 2011, in the funeral home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home East, Springfield, MO.
