John C. Hurt, Sr., 86, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011 at 3:30 a.m., in Point Look Out Nursing Home. He was an honorable Veteran of World War II. He was united in marriage to Georgia Baldwin. They were married for 65 years.
He was preceded in death by wife, Georgia; sister, Eunice; and brother, Walter. He is survived by six children, Jane, Anita, Bill, Patricia, David, and John, Jr.; siblings, Omega, Ina, and Josephine; 25 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren.
He had a strong faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was very hard-working and a loving father and he will be greatly missed.
Services will be Thurs., Jan. 27, 2011 at 12:30 p.m., in Greenlawn North. Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Wed., Jan. 26, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the funeral home.
