John Chester Neer, age 60, of Fair Grove, MO, passed away Monday, February 6, 2012 at Mercy Hospital. He was born December 7, 1951, in Lacona, IA, to Marvin and Glenys (Evans) Neer. John was united in marriage to Gail Johnston on October 17, 1992 in Willow Springs MO. He was a member of the Strafford Masonic lodge, and the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple, where he was a member of the Crusier Club. John enjoyed dirt bike riding, riding his Harley, flying airplanes, boating and fishing in area lakes and rivers, he always enjoyed story telling. John was a practical jokester, always trying to pull one over of his friends. John was always the first one there when someone needed help.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Leo and Glenys Marlene Neer; and one brother, Mike Neer.
He is survived by his wife Gail Neer, of the home; two children, Ashley Childress and husband Kevin of, Springfield, and Jennifer Neer and Joe Phelps, of Springfield; two grandchildren, Lili Childress and John Lucas Childress; one brother, Marvin Neer and wife Sue, of Russell IA; one sister, Beverly Justice and husband Lanny ,of Halfway MO; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2012, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Visitation will follow the memorial services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners’ Children’s Hospital or Abou Ben Adhem Cruiser Club. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
