John David Huff was born at his family home to J.L. (Daddy Fats) Huff and Mildred (Nash)Huff on 11/20/1943 in Fair Grove, MO. John David passed peacefully on 10/26/22 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield from his battle with pneumonia.
He grew up with his family who all worked hard on their farm around Fair Grove. Family say it was a good childhood.
He married Carlon Thomas Huff on 10/18/1975. They ran a dairy farm with 70-100 Holsteins for many years just south of Fair Grove. Even though John David had a congenital eye issue, he never allowed it to affect his hard work ethic. He loved and worked on the farm with Carlon and his family. Carlon worked by his side when she was not working as a local pharmacist helping to support them in lean years. His favorite color was probably John Deere Green and Red Barn. If it didn’t say John Deere then he would not drive it. He was able to cut hay, milk, and farm even with limited eyesight. He was known to have driven a motorcycle along with farm machinery. He also operated a health food/supplement store on the property for many years. He often researched natural supplements for improving health and ailments. He did consult local experts for advice. He loved to listen to talk radio, gospel music and old country songs. He was always trying to learn. He tried to keep abreast of politics and current affairs. He was known as a kind and caring person. He loved attending church and bible study(when not having to milk/farm) and had strong faith in the Lord. He enjoyed camping over the years with Carlon, friends and family. Carlon was his driver while they traveled many states most recently in their Motor Home. Over the years they raised many spoiled animals.
John David loved good food and home cooking. Favorite breakfast was biscuits and gravy. He was quick witted and had a wonderful smile and laugh. He appreciated conversations about many topics.
He is survived by Carlon, wife of 49 yrs, daughter Melinda (Mendy) Huff , his siblings: Mike Huff, Donna Jo Frankum, Shirley Roper, brother in law Robin (Bonnie) Thomas, and other family including many cousins, nieces and nephews, and his companions Festus and the kittens. His parents and sister Susie preceded him.
