Junior was born on December 23, 1922, at his family home in Halfway. He was a 1941 graduate of Halfway High School. Junior was saved at the age of 16, at Halfway Baptist Church and was a faithful church member and Deacon at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, and Jericho Missionary Baptist Church. Junior married Marcene Standley on June 10, 1946, and to this union five sons were born. He and Marcene moved to Kansas City in 1951. Junior worked at Southside and ABC Moving and Storage Company for 30 years.
Junior will be deeply missed by his family and his church family from Jericho Missionary Baptist Church. Throughout his 101 years, he touched the lives of countless people with his unwavering kindness and care for others. He set an example of what it means to serve God.
Junior is preceded in death by his wife, Marcene (Standley) Fuller; sons: Roger Dee, infant twins: Larry Wayne and Jerry Duane, and Curtis R. Fuller, and granddaughter-in-law, Alexa Fuller.
He is survived by his son, Bruce Fuller, and wife, Cecilia; grandchildren: Angie Corley (Chase), Jason Fuller (Hilary), Curtis A. Fuller, and Brian Fuller; great-grandchildren: Audrey Schambach, Haley Schambach, Addison Corley, Addison Fuller, Quinn Fuller, Cassidy Fuller, Hayden Corley, Kellen Fuller; great-great grandchildren: Matthew and Brooklyn; siblings, Roseanne Boyce and J. C. Davison.
A visitation for John will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 12:00 P.M., at Pitts Chapel in Bolivar, Missouri. The funeral will begin at 1:00 P.M., after the visitation. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel of Greenlawn Funeral Homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jericho Missionary Baptist Church at 820 S. Woodbury, Independence, MO 64054 or to Angel Flight Central, in memory of Alexa Fuller, at 10 NW Richards Rd Kansas City, MO 64116.
