On Sunday, May 10, 2020, John Johnson, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at age 78.
John, the second of four children, was born on February 19, 1942, to James and Margaret (Gibbons) Johnson, and grew up in Llaneslli, Wales.
After spending his childhood in Wales, and serving six years in the British army, John “crossed the pond” to pursue career opportunities in the United States. He worked for United Airlines for 33 years. During this time, John met his wife Terry (also a United Airlines employee), and made many life-long friends in the industry.
John and Terry retired to Table Rock Lake in Missouri in 2008. John was an avid bass fisherman who loved nothing better than relaxing in his boat, enjoying the beauty of the mountain lake he called home, and waiting patiently for his next big catch.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Grace Johnson. He was also predeceased by an infant daughter, Katharina.
John is survived by his wife Terry (Thomas) Johnson, his two children, Kirsten Lappin (Keith Mathews), Christopher Johnson (Lynn), and their mother Christina (Litty) Johnson, grandchildren Ashley (Caleb) Champagne, Tiffany (Nick) Bowman, Rowen Johnson, Michael Matthews, great grandchildren Benjamin and Adalyn Bowman, and two sisters Joan (Goeff) Davies and Jean (Calvin) James.
John blessed the lives of many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention here. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him
