John Luther Wilson, 77, of Bolivar, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at his home. John was born on July 6th, 1946, in Stockton, Missouri, to Willis Lee Wilson and Rhoda Fern Tailor- Wilson. John graduated high school in 1964 from Marion C. Early. After high school, he dedicated his life to the artistry of carpentry. John’s passion and craftsmanship shaped his entire life. John married Shirley Price on May 14, 1965, and shared a blessed marriage of 58 years.
John was saved in May 1982 at the age of 36, at Mitchell Campground. John became a member of Goodson Missionary Baptist Church in 1993. He was baptized at Jefferson Bridge on April 4th, 1993. John was ordained as a Deacon at Goodson Missionary Baptist Church on June 9th, 1996. John loved his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids so much. He took them all hunting and fishing and helped them plead their case to stay home from school. Loved by many.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Rhoda Wilson; granddaughter, Amanda Linfoot; sister, Marilyn Taylor, and nephew, Dennis McIntire.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Wilson, of Bolivar; daughters: Pamela Higgs, and husband, Buddy, of Weatherford, TX, and Barbara Presley, and husband, Tom, in Pittsburgh, MO; grandchildren: Amber Stone, and husband, Jarrett, of Granbury, TX, Thomas Lee Presley, and wife, Jessica, of Bolivar, MO, Colton Linfoot, of Granbury, TX, Johnathan Linfoot, of Weatherford, TX, Hayden Presley, and wife, Michelle, of Morrisville, MO; great-grandchildren: Darrin Stone, Bailey Stone, Addyson Presley, John Stone, and Thomas James Presley; siblings: Mary Jane Russell, of Bolivar, MO, Jerry Wilson, and wife, Karen, of Goodson, MO, Rosa Lee, and husband, Gary Lee, of Wishart, MO, Dixie McIntire, and husband, Dwayne, of Bolivar, MO, Cristine Miller of Solon, IA, Libby Declue, and husband, Mike, of Goodman, MO, and Laura Sine, and husband, Chris, of Colorado Springs, CO; brother in laws, Kenny Price, and wife, Jeanie, of Bolivar, MO, and Dave Taylor, of Bolivar; sister in law, Mary Scurlock of Bolivar, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for John will take place on Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. following visitation. Interment will follow at Goodson Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
