John Norman Chapman, age 58, of Springfield, MO, passed away Monday, February 7, 2011, after a courageous and long-time battle with diabetes. He was born March 9, 1952, in Springfield, MO, to Norman and Doris (Regert) Chapman.
John attended Arizona State University for two years, but discontinued to begin his career early as an outstanding salesman, and to start married life with his beloved, Monica Davis. He loved gardening, was an avid sports fan, and was an enthusiastic softball and basketball coach to his daughter’s teams. He was an active member of the Catholic Church, and a fantastic papa. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman B. Chapman and Doris Chapman-Holcomb; and by an older brother, James H. Chapman.
He is survived by one daughter, Ursula I. Chapman of Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Joyce Lambie of Republic MO, Norma Stephens of Springfield MO, LeaAnn Edwards of Fair Grove MO; and former wife, Monica Davis of Kansas City, MO; numerous neices and nephews; and a host of family and friends
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2011 in Greenlawn North Funeral Home with Father Denis Doughtery officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any of the following: American Diabetes Association, Catholic Charities, or the Humane Society.
