John Ray Woods, age 58, of Springfield, MO, passed away in his sleep on Friday, June14, 2024 at 12:00 a.m. John was born on March 10, 1966, in Kansas City, MO to James and Judy Woods.
He worked at Digital Monitoring Products (DMP) as the lead for the facilities team and lead custodial. He was known as someone who everyone could count on for a friendly smile and a helping hand, as well as putting pride into everything he did. He was a hard worker, and also an incredibly organized person!
His friends described him as someone who always brought sunshine and good music everywhere he went. He was always there with a good attitude, never complaining while he helped those around him. He never had any negative words to say. Not only did he love helping others, but he also loved spending time with his family.
John was also a great father, and the most amazing PaPa ever! He was always there for his family. Whether it was camping, listening to music, or just being there with them: this was where he was happiest. Sandra was a wonderful partner to John, and he talked about it! He made sure all of his friends knew how much he loved her and the rest of his family. He was known to talk about how excited he always was to spend time with his grandkids.
He will be missed by many because not only was he an incredible family man, but also a wonderful friend.
John was preceded in death by his father, James Woods.
He is survived by his mother, Judy Woods; his partner of 23 years, Sandra Lashley; his children: daughter, Amber Blunt, daughter, Laura Woods, and son, Jonathan Woods; grandchildren: Kash, Kolby, Korbin, Rowllin, and Rylen’ step-children: Amanda Finnel and Immanual Lashley; step-grandchildren: Hunter, Cole, Zane, Franklin, and Xander; John’s brother, Jimmy Woods and his spouse Annette; and his sister, Jenifer Woods.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
John’s services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
