John Thomas Carter, age 90, of Springfield, MO, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Mercy Hospital. He was born January 9, 1922, in Jersey City, NJ, to Joseph and Anna (Wzienczkowska) Mizeski. He is a US Army WWII veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Loretta Carter; two infant sons; his brother Bill; and a sister Jean.
He is survived by his son Bob Carter and wife Beth of Rogersville, MO; three grandchildren: Allison Twist and husband Erik of Scottsdale, AZ, Jessica Connolly and husband Doug of Austin, TX, and Amy Highfill of North Hollywood, CA; six great grandchildren: Carter, Mason, Andrew, Cooper, Eliot, and Miriam; one sister Barbara Spidella of NM; his companion Maxine David of Springfield, MO; as well as other dear relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 PM before the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Kitchen.
