Andre Gibney left a message on June 28, 2025:
I just came upon your RIP notice for John Thomas . I'm Andre Gibney and my brother was John Gerard Gibney a fellow traveler. We lost our Ger as he was known on January 20th this year, not so long after you lost your beloved John. I can see the love and pride in his face an expression I know so well. No point in saying I cant imagine your sorrow we know that emptiness. Ger was a lover of life exactly like John Thomas I'm sure, embracing everything as Ger would say I'm Downs and I'm proud!! And like John Thomas his memory for detail was sharp as a tack . No point in watching a sitcom with him on the TV he knew all the lines and spoilt the punch line. Gerard came to live with my wife and I and our two children after my Father passed away not unlike your situation I suspect. Our children were young but from day one they embraced our new reality and family and forever grateful they grew up with their Downs Syndrome Uncle who they loved . I sympathise with you all in your family and may you have the strength to move on but of course to never forget John Thomas and celebrate his being in the world every day of your life like we do Gerard..... We're traveling the same road with the same name . Love and Peace.
