John W. Filip age 92 of Lampe, Mo. passed away on April 27, 2024 at his home.
He was born on April 1, 1932 in Omaha, Nebraska the son of John Peter and Mary Jelinek Filip. He was a cabinet maker by trade and was a Korean War, Air Force veteran. John was also a member of the Our Lady of The Cove Catholic Church in Kimberling City, Mo. He was a member of the Ford V-8 Motor Club in Kansas City, Kansas and loved antique car restoration. He was united in marriage to Frances Nemec on May 15, 1954 in Omaha, Nebraska and to this union was born three children. They moved to Lampe, Missouri in 2000.
Survivors is his wife; Frances of the home, son; Mark (Cindy) Filip of Lincoln, Nebraska and daughter; Mary Kay Garcia (Javier) of Omaha, Nebraska. John is also survived by seven grandchildren; Abby, Jenny, Kate, John’Cruz, Liarose, Chris and Gretchen. Five great grandchildren; Nick. Charlie, Danny, Scarlet and James. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and son, Michael.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 9:00 Am followed by a Rosary at 9:30 AM and Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of The Cove Catholic Church in Kimberling City, Mo. with Fr. William Hennecke officiating. Burial will be in Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Calvary Cemetery.
