John William Montgomery 91, Springfield, MO. passed away Monday, July 13, 2020, after a long illness. He was born in Marshfield, MO. on February 5, 1929 to John J. and Veda M. (Haley) Montgomery. John was a retired Natural Gas Department employee for City Utilities of Springfield. John was a very active and busy man. He was a member of the Kaiser Frazier Car Club. He loved camping, gardening, working, and spending time with his family.
John was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Roy Montgomery. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, (Peninger) Montgomery, his children: Joe Montgomery (Michael), Wayne Montgomery (Leslie) and Marsha Woodall (Jeff), eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, a sister: Dora Mae Adams and several nieces and nephews
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2020, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. No visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army.
