Michael Smith left a message on December 8, 2023:
I worked with Dad 14 years in the fire truck business in Rogersville. He always took good care of his customers which created much word of mouth advertising that kept business coming in for many years. We had several work/fun road trips delivering trucks to customers over the years. Rain, shine, sleet, snow, icy roads.. The delivery always arrived on time if it was at all possible. I remember busting ice and salting the trailer deck with him out east so the truck could be loaded without sliding off the deck and turning over. His personal truck was also always top of class and unlike anyone else's road truck. The last time I spoke with Dad directly was when he took me to the Springfield airport 2 years ago next month. I have been living overseas in my retirement from the trucking industry. We have communicated via email for the past 2 years with the help of his wife Becky. Thank you Becky for your assistance. I know typing on those tiny phones is a real pain! I would like to take this opportunity to offer a suggestion to the readers; if there are family members that you have not contacted for quite some time; I would respectfully recommend you go ahead and do that. They just might be gone tomorrow... See you on the other side, Dad

Jon was a wonderful brother-in-law . He was the true meaning of a good hearted man.. He loved his family so much. My prayers and thoughts are with you all . I know this is all way too hard right now to even comprehend, but he is in a much better place that we all want to be someday. God bless you all..

My dear Uncle Jon, I loved you so very much! I looked forward every year on your birthday making you a blackberry cobbler. I am so happy that you shared many of your "life stories" with me. Especially the ones about how my Momma would "take care of" anyone at school who picked on her baby brother! You were a generous man and only you and God know how mqny people you helped. I loved our family times together when you knew we would insist you entertain us with that "Jim Reeves" voice. You had such a witty, spontaneous personality and a contagious laugh. I will think of you everyday until I see you again.

I loved Jon. When he was with the Baldnobbers in Branson he played a boogie on his guitar and I did the hillbilly twist. Jon was always smiling and I felt like it was for me. He was such a a sweet person and to me always will be. My condolences to his family. Love you Jon. LaWana
