Jon David Smith, 82 of Springfield, passed away Sunday December 3^rd, 2023 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis following a short illness.  He was born in Springfield, MO on November 17, 1941 the son of Clyde and Helen Smith.

Jon founded Jon’s Truck & Equipment Sales in the early 1970’s after being an original cast member of the Baldknobbers show in Branson in addition to a very successful route sales career with Hagman Tobacco & Candy Co.  He continued to operate Jon’s Truck & Equipment Sales with his wife Lorrita for 30 years until selling it in 2003.  He proudly continued to work and be involved in the business with its new owner, Jim Keltner for over 12 additional years.  He loved people and the relationships he had built over those many years.  People and relationships were always paramount in his life, treating everyone the same no matter their position.  He truly had a huge heart and was the very definition of a self-made man.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Lorrita, his parents, sisters Sarah Arbuckle and Betty Lund, brothers Ben and Albert, and half brothers RC & Bob Kinser.

He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Becky, sons Mike and David and wife Mai, Lance and wife Krista, stepdaughters Rachel Gray and Bethany Line, grandchildren Melissa, Derek, and Carlie Hunt as well has half sisters Janet Adams and Sandi Kelley and half brother Robert plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday, December 8^th, 2023 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole, Springfield.  Visitation will be at 10:00 AM with the funeral service immediately following at 11:30 AM.  Burial will follow at Rivermonte Cemetery.
